Developmental Disabilities Services
The National Disability Rights Network (NDRN) released the report: Segregated & Exploited: The Failure of the Disability Service System to Provide Quality Work. The report is available on the NDRN website. In this call to action, NDRN describes the failure of the disability service system to provide quality work for people with disabilities and focuses on the problems with segregated work, sheltered environments and low wages and highlights a massive breakdown between good federal and state policies and their implementation and oversight.

Autism Speaks:
Over the past six days, the autism community has joined the millions of people across the country and around the world who mourn the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. Innocent children with special needs as well as remarkable special education teachers were among those who lost their lives.

In the wake of the tragedy in Connecticut last Friday, Autism Speaks has created some resources to help families with children on the spectrum deal with the tragedy.

Autism Speaks has also responded to false media claims that autism spectrum disorders are linked to planned violence. You can learn more about those efforts here.

People who live with autism spectrum disorders are among the most vulnerable in our society. And the people who dedicate themselves to improving the lives of those with special needs hold a special place for us. It is the responsibility of our elected leaders to honor these victims' memories and their legacies by ensuring that we never see another day like we did last week.
